The Minoru Jacket Sew-a-Long that I’ve mentioned a few times starts TODAY over at Sewaholic.I have been chomping at the bit for this to start ever since I received my pattern in the mail back in late November. Buuuuuut, I left it to the last minute to select my fabric, and as a result didn’t make it to the store this weekend and am as such currently sans fabric to cut out tonight. I’m so sad that I’m not able to start with everyone else! The earliest I’ll be able to get to the fabric store this week is Thursday, then I’ve got to wash, iron and press everyone, so I’m looking at a Friday evening start at the earliest. This means I’ll be almost a week behind, right out the gate. Blast!
Hopefully, I will be able to make up for lost time this weekend and early next week, as I’ve got a few days off. Fingers crossed! The great news is that since the SAL will probably take almost a month, I should be able to keep up if I use my days off to play catch up.
Some exciting news to share in the realm of my sewing studio (which is still not fully decorated or set up, really need to get cracking on that) – Boyfriend Smash bought me a NEW NEW NEW NEW machine for Christmas!!!! Complete and utter surprise, and excellent move by him :)
It’s a limited edition Kenmore, and it’s sleek and slender with a touch of pink. Photos will be shared as soon as the studio has been righted from its post-Christmas hurricane.
I’m excited but a bit nervous to work on a machine that was actually made this decade. Yes, I haven’t used it yet. For shame! I know. Would you believe I haven’t had time to sit down and tinker with it yet? Very sad. However, I’m putting it to use with the Minoru (yeah, that’s right, I’m sewing a jacket with a machine I’ve never used, I like to live on the edge).
Speaking of sewing garments, I don’t believe I’ll be reaching my goal of sewing two articles of clothing a month … at least not for January. Things have been very busy with the Smash Knits online shop (not that I’m complaining!) as of late, so that has been taking up a lot of my free time. Good thing it’s winter and there are a lot of shows to PVR on TV :)
More to come in that department soon!
