Cynthia’s done it again!

So yummy, especially this one:
The second one isn’t too shabby either,I love the flowy detail and happen to have several appropriate fabrics in my stash (just never the time it seems).
The rest of Simplicity’s Spring line has quite a bit to offer too, including a new line from a Project Runway designer! Choices, choices.
Oh my…

Are there even words? Oi. What a mess.
While the patterned vinyl one shown in the alternate photos is passeable and could probably even be pretty cute… WHY would I spend precious time sewing something so ghastly as clear vinyl? It boggles the mind, I’m telling you.
On the topic of coats …. hoping to finally get cracking on my Minoru this week! Maybe I’ll be able to catch up and join the rest of the SAL!
I Resolve …

I thought I’d start 2012 off with a bang and dive right into things with a lofty list of my *hopeful* sewing accomplishments for the year ahead. I’ve already decided to break one of my resolutions, here’s crossing my fingers I stick to the rest. :)

Time sure is starting to pick up the closer to Christmas we get. I’m not sure how much posting I will be doing as shop orders for gifts start coming in on top of all the hustle and bustle of Christmas parties, decorating, shopping, and baking I have lined up. Oh, and home renos :) Read the rest of this entry »
Another Quickie … and a new family member!
Posted: October 1, 2011 Filed under: Sewing | Tags: catnip, cats, fish, scrapbusting, scraps, sewing, toys Leave a comment »In keeping with my quickie project theme, I whipped up a couple of these for the felines in our home. I thought it would be a good way to tackle a little bit of my ridiculous scrap collection, and it would only take a few short minutes and give the cats something new to play with.

Yes, cats, plural. Boyfriend Smash and I have adopted a second furry feline.
His name is Percy and we rescued him from the “mean” streets of our neighborhood. He’s almost identical to cat #1 Zeph, and blends in well with the family. Top off the animals with Marls, and we’ve got the three stooges. Percy does have a habit of wandering off for a few days at a time and then coming home ravenous, so he’s somewhat like a wayward teenager in that respect.
The cats loved the toys (naturally, they’re filled with catnip), and I was satisfied in finishing a project in under 30 minutes. However, this led me to the realization that:
A) I really need to organize my scraps.
B) I have WAY too many scraps.
C) I need to complete more projects with my scraps!

Anyone have any other projects bookmarked as their go-to scrapbusting ideas? I’m all ears :)
Quick Projects = Instant Gratification

I have come to realize that I really enjoy interspersing my longer clothing projects with small, quickie items. These are not only a break from more involved pattern reading and construction, but allow for instant gratification in a time crunch. And who isn’t all about instant gratification in today’s society? :) Read the rest of this entry »
Progress is being made!

I should be up and running in my *new* sewing studio by the end of this week. Boyfriend Smash and I were very busy this past weekend getting our hands dirty drywalling; mudding, sanding, and even trying our hands at a little taping. Read the rest of this entry »
MMJ: Day 22
Posted: June 23, 2011 Filed under: Sewing | Tags: coral, cozy, Cynthia Rowley, dress, infinity, jersey, Me Made June, necklaces, scarves, sewing, yellow 1 Comment »I’m getting a little behind in my posts, but better late than never. My outfit for yesterday, day 22 of Me Made June was definitely a cheater outfit. I had a cute skirt selected, complete with new strappy sandals, and then I awoke to rain, rain, and more rain. Added to the fact that it was cold out, and that I had two minutes to make a wardrobe change before leaving for work, and this is what I came up with.
** after seeing this photo – I realize the tunic top needs some altering. It was another clearance rack find ($4!), but it definitely needs to be brought in a little bit at the sides and armpits so that it looks less sloppy! **
The goods:
Infinity scarf – Me Made!
Eyelet tank – Old Navy
Jeans – Warehouse One
Sandals – Roxy
Earrings – Le Chateau
Hours worn: 12
Places visited: Work, dinner with bf.
Main activities: Working … watching the NHL Awards on TV… not by choice :)
Wear again? Yes! I’ve worn this scary so many times and love it more each time. It’s so fun!
I also have a dress cut out of the scarf fabric that I need to get around to putting together… It’s this Cynthia Rowley pattern, and I’m interested to see how it will turn out. Just as soon as I feel brave enough to tackle an invisible zipper.
I really love working with jersey. It’s simple and forgiving, so you can’t go wrong. Next up on my list is a few of these necklaces, in a bright coral!

Initially I had planned to wear a skirt today in order to change things up a little, however it proved to be just a little too short to wear to work. It has finally happened – I’m coming to the end of my finished pieces, so I may have to start recycling items next week. 16 days to go! Read the rest of this entry »
